STARTING LINEUP
The listed ranks and lineup are a starting point. The team builder exposes the effect targets and conditions so you can adapt the composition to your encounter.
Open this team in the builder ↗Party, role and execution
Prepare the target, sphere and applicable gear before applying controlled damage. Use the selected capture and support effects according to their trigger conditions; check mercy behavior rather than allowing a helper attack to defeat the target. Finish with the sphere while the intended capture inputs are active.
Recorded partner effects
These are raw structured values from the acquired v1.0.3 player dataset. Effect names determine the unit and target; no unverified damage-total formula is applied. A false same-species stacking flag means another copy does not add that effect.
Contextual text references and cooldown overrides are shown separately where native v1.0.3 evidence supplies them. They require the activation described in the final column and are not unconditional party totals.
| Pal | Effect | Rank 1 raw | Rank 5 raw | Target and conditions |
|---|
| Wispaw | Capture Level Sneak Bonus | 1 | 5 | To Trainer; same-species non-stacking |
| Muffly | Capture Level Up If Target Freeze | 1 | 5 | To Trainer; same-species non-stacking |
| Souffline | Capture Level Up If Target Ivy Cling | 1 | 5 | To Trainer; same-species non-stacking |
| Yakumo | Syncro Passive When Capture | 15 | 30 | To Trainer; same-species non-stacking |
| Katress | Element Add Item Drop Normal | 40 | 80 | To Self And Trainer; same-species non-stacking |
| Katress | Element Add Item Drop Normal | 40 | 80 | To Otomo; same-species non-stacking |

Equipment and ingredient plan
The following options are observed in the source build loadout. Recipe quantities use the acquired catalog’s default recipe when an exact item name matches; they are first-tier ingredient facts, not a price, crafting-time estimate or assertion that every alternative must be equipped together.
| Item | Source slot | Shown tech level | Default recipe ingredients |
|---|
| Ring of Mercy | Safety | 18 | 30 Ingot, 20 Paldium Fragment, 5 Ancient Civilization Parts |
Stat point priority
Player allocation order for this composition, adapted from the captured guide. This is strategy guidance rather than a measured point budget; change the order when your survival or carrying needs differ.
| Priority | Player stat | Why it comes here |
|---|
| 1 | Health | Capture attempts keep an enemy alive for longer, so prioritize surviving the extra attacks. |
| 2 | Stamina | Support movement behind the target and repeated repositioning for sphere throws. |
| 3 | Attack | Use only enough damage for controlled weakening; excessive damage raises the risk of a kill. |
| 4 | Weight and work speed | Carry enough sphere tiers for the planned route. Work speed is a separate base task. |
Recruitment and upgrade sequence
- Recruitment targets: Wispaw, Muffly, Souffline, Yakumo, Katress. Open the linked Pal records for the available acquisition and breeding paths.
- Craft only the Pal Gear needed by the effects you intend to activate, then confirm the effect at the rank you currently own.
- Budget the listed loadout ingredients and upgrade one role at a time; compare the rank 1 and rank 5 records rather than quoting the fully upgraded number on an uncondensed Pal.
Evidence boundary
The factual tables preserve the stated source snapshot. Source-specific recommendations and mechanics have not been independently reproduced in the current game. Exact gameplay rule gaps remain in the coverage notes rather than being filled with invented quantities.
EXECUTE THE COMPOSITION
How to play it
Compare alternative capture conditions
Test Wispaw’s back bonus, Muffly’s Frozen-target bonus or Souffline’s Ivy-Covered-target bonus against the displayed capture percentage. Each provides capture levels 1–5, but the extract does not establish that one throw combines the three checks.
Supply the required status first
Add Frostallion’s mounted Freeze for Muffly or Needoll Noct’s party-slot Ivy-Covered effect for Souffline, or use an appropriate skill-bar source. Neither status provider appears in the default capture lineup.
Weaken with a nonlethal method
Use Mercy Hit or wear the Ring of Mercy before reducing health. Keep the target alive for sphere attempts instead of allowing the weakening attack to finish the encounter.
Throw from the target’s back
For Wispaw, weaken first, circle behind the target and throw with the back bonus. This route uses positioning rather than requiring another Pal to establish a status.
Deploy Yakumo to meet its wording
Use Yakumo as the active companion when relying on its effect, since the source requires fighting together rather than a reserved slot. Retain the guide’s evidence caveat before investing a party slot in it.
Plan for throw-time preservation
Katress’s listed 10–50% chance prevents sphere consumption when throwing. Treat it as probabilistic preservation, not a post-capture refund or a guarantee that every second high-tier sphere will be returned.
MATCH EACH SLOT TO ITS JOB
Loadout choices and preparation
Prepare nonlethal weakening, an appropriate sphere tier and the status effects missing from the default party. Capturing is a control task rather than a maximum-damage loadout.
Capture equipmentRing of Mercy
Equip Ring of Mercy to prevent your own damaging attacks from delivering the final lethal hit. Keep independent Pal attacks under control rather than assuming the item makes every source nonlethal. Unlock: technology level 18.
Ring of Mercy →
Capture equipmentSphere tier
Bring the best Pal Sphere tier you can supply for the intended target. Katress’s source-listed 10%–50% preservation chance reduces consumption but does not replace sphere strength.
Capture equipmentMissing capture status
Add a Freeze or Ivy-Covered application route to the party or equipped skill bar. Muffly and Souffline need those respective target conditions, and the default lineup supplies neither.
Capture equipmentNonlethal weakening
Choose a weak, controllable weapon when you cannot rely on Ring of Mercy. Lower the target’s Health without letting an endgame burst accidentally end the capture attempt.
PREPARE THE EXACT RECORD
Equipment and supplies
Open the named tier for its ingredients, unlocks and recorded acquisition methods. Resource planning uses its game ID. Generic choices such as “your strongest shield” in the loadout remain choices rather than a fabricated exact item.
Passive records and availability
Check the exact passive’s effect and eligibility before moving it to a carry. An availability label does not guarantee a particular catch, implant or mutation result.
Passive selection and acquisition
These are the captured guide’s build choices and suggested acquisition routes. Use the linked fixed-baseline passive record for its actual effects and eligibility; a proposed route is not a guaranteed roll.
Use selectively for controlled weakening; stronger player hits can also kill a target intended for capture.
The guide points to a bounty officer: unlock the implant with bounty tokens, then use gold to apply it to the intended carriers.
Favor protection during the deliberately extended weakening and sphere-throw sequence.
The captured route normally uses the bounty-officer implant unlock, followed by gold applications to the selected carriers.
Choose for recovery and status protection on long capture attempts, without presenting it as a capture-rate increase.
The proposed routes are mutation breeding or an implant obtained through ancient-relic recycling; ordinary wild rolls are not the stated route.
UNDERSTAND THE TRADE
What this build turns down
Running Muffly and Souffline without a status source
Muffly and Souffline need their respective status conditions. Recruit a valid Freeze or Ivy-Covered source, or use an appropriate skill, before counting either slot's contribution.
What Yakumo actually does
Yakumo's effect identifier and description describe different possibilities: capture inheritance versus encounter matching. Keep that unresolved distinction visible instead of promising either outcome.
Assuming the three capture-level bonuses stack
Freeze and Ivy-Covered cannot coexist under the captured status rules. Wispaw's back-angle condition can accompany either, but the two status-dependent capture bonuses cannot be assumed simultaneous.
Reading Katress as a sphere refund
Katress is described as preventing sphere consumption on a throw, rather than refunding only a failed attempt. Its Neutral-enemy loot effect serves a separate task.
Alternates and flex picks
Supply mounted Freeze for Muffly's condition. Applying the status requires the riding mode described by the capture.
Acquisition route →Supply the Ivy-Covered condition needed by Souffline, with the captured party-slot application route.
Acquisition route →Consider homing spheres and additional capacity for a capture route. Homing may ease aiming but does not establish a guaranteed back bonus.
Acquisition route →Use for the Neutral-enemy drop role when farming kills is the task; it does not preserve spheres like Katress.
Acquisition route →BUILD IT IN A USEFUL ORDER
Acquisition and upgrade plan
The five-species party is accessible before the endgame, but sphere supply and any extra status provider must be budgeted separately from the starting roster.
Recruit the core capture party
Use the linked pages for Wispaw, Muffly, Souffline, Yakumo and Katress. The source treats Wispaw, Muffly and Souffline as earlier recruitment targets, so the first usable version need not wait for the final passive or rank investments.
Add the missing status provider
Muffly's Frozen-target condition and Souffline's Ivy-Covered condition need a real source outside the default lineup. The source proposes mounted Frostallion for Freeze and party-slot Needoll Noct for Ivy-Covered. Check alternative skill effects rather than treating its exclusivity wording as proven.
Upgrade preservation and back-bonus support first
The source prioritizes Katress, whose sphere-preservation chance rises from 10% to 50%, then Wispaw, whose back-bonus capture level rises from 1 to 5. These improve different parts of a session; neither turns a difficult throw into a guaranteed capture.
Prepare a nonlethal weakening method
Craft the Ring of Mercy or use another supported Mercy method before weakening a target. Its purpose is to prevent your own applicable attacks from finishing the Pal; check companion damage and status behavior separately rather than assuming universal protection from every cause of death.
Ring of Mercy →
Carry enough appropriate spheres
Choose sphere tiers for the actual target and bring a reserve for repeated failures. Katress offers a chance to avoid sphere consumption at throw time; probabilistic preservation does not remove the need for the expensive tiers or guarantee a refund pattern.
Treat passive purchases as survival upgrades
The captured catalog does not establish a passive that directly increases the capture rate. Buy the suggested survival implants only when their combat benefit helps the route, rather than presenting them as additional capture levels or hidden sphere multipliers.
